George and I are getting ready to start painting. Does anyone have advice on what order to paint walls, baseboards, door frames and ceilings? We are going to paint the walls in colour and the others in a white.
This is our routine: 1. Prep surfaces - remove wall paper, wash walls with TSP... 2. Tape the floor and put down drop sheet. Also tape any edges that aren't going to be painted 3. Prime everything; walls, trip, ceiling. 4. Paint ceiling. 5. Tape ceiling and trim. 6. Paint the walls (2 coats at least). 7. Tape walls. 8. Paint trim.
As for advice: a. If you are going to use the brushes/rollers soon, wrap them in clingwrap instead of washing them out. b. Don't bother to ever wash rollers - they are cheap enough to use for one colour and then toss. c. If at all possible, paint in natural light - it makes mistakes easier to see. d. Buy the expensive paint - it'll be ~$20 more per can then the cheap stuff, but on a medium room you'll use less than 3 cans. For $60 you'll have a nicer finish that will last a lot longer. d. Take your time, turn on some tunes and have fun - remember you are increasing the value of your home :)

I agree. Ceiling, walls, trim.
Use Paint pads - They will save you hours of work compared to rollers and are so easy.
Trust me - Done it for years.
Richard even has one (he just hasn't had the chance to use it yet)
Step 1: Wash George.
Step 2: Hold George by the legs and dip head into paint.
Step 3: Rub head vigorously along walls and ceilings.
