Boardwalk

It was a while ago, but others are not posting on their blogs even though they are on vacation so I thought I would pt up some pictures.

The next stop we took on the honeymoon was the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz.  George had visited it on a business trip, but he didn't go on any of the rides.  I love rides, especially the ones that spin.  This wasn't George's worst day on the honeymoon, but it was probably the second worst.  He went on too many rides and ended up feeling a bit sick.  (ok and I may have convinced him to go on the ferris wheel ride that you lock it and make yourself spin around so I didn't help the situation)

This is the ride I had my eye on all day.  Not only goes it spin, but it also turns you upside-down. Unfortunately it does not flip all of the way around.  I went on it when it was lit up at dusk.

George would not have anything to do with the upside-down and spin ride, but we did go on this one.

We also went on this ride at least twice.

Finally an activity George enjoyed.

(George also enjoyed the roller coaster and we rode that a couple of times as well as a walk along the beach)

Early morning at Mammoth Springs

We talked with the campsite hosts and found out that they thought watching sunrise at Mammoth Springs was a good idea.  George managed to get me up before sunrise and drive for about 30 minutes to Mammoth Springs. Here are some of the interesting shots I took.  One thing to note when looking at the photos, colour changes depending on how hot the springs are. White springs are hotter than orange ones.  This post has a lot of pictures.

Yellowstone

Our adventure continues in Yellowstone. We stayed for a couple of a couple of days to enjoy the geysers, hot springs and wildlife.

We drove over 900 km yesterday, but we managed to make a couple of side trips.

The first corn palace was built in 1892.

Chicago

We had a semi long day of driving yesterday, but we didn't get as far as we had hoped.  We stopped to have a late lunch in Chicago and to see the skyline.  Unfortunately, lunch was badly timed and we hit rush hour traffic getting out of the city.  We stayed the night in Onalaska, WI.

Driving

Yesterday we started our journey after a dinner at Grandpa's and a visit to George's parents.  We arrived at the border close to midnight.  There were a couple of cars in front of us so it took less than 20 minutes to get on our way.  We stayed the night in Dewitt, MI.  The hotel had breakfast included.  We figured it was just toast and bagels, but they have a batter dispenser and a waffle maker.   

We have a long day of driving ahead, but we hope to stop at the windy city to take some pictures.  See George's blog for the start of our journey (link is in the side bar).

Nephew

Our nephew, Peter, is visiting us and he is a more fun to take pictures of then our cat! Mostly because our poor cat Jack has not taken a liking to Peter and has become a basement kitty sitting on his safety shelf in the workrom until Peter goes to bed.

Peter in the pool. On a walk last Sunday night, George and I came across this kiddie pool that someone put out in the trash. It does not have a hole in it so we brought it home. It is a big hit.

Pick a peck of pickled peppers?

I had my first harvest from our garden this morning. It wasn't that impressive, but I picked a sweet banana pepper and a zucchini. We ate them for lunch today.

A bell pepper. I didn't plant green ones. I think I planted either red and yellow or red and orange. I can't remember. I hoped they by getting the coloured ones I would be able to tell when they are ripe.
