Timisoara

This is is the Orthodox Cathedral in Timisoara, Romania. I need to post more pictures from this summer, but I thought I would try to post at least one before Christmas. Timisoara is known as the city of flowers. I found it to be a very pretty city with lots of nice squares for pedestrians and for taking pictures.

A Walk in Kolb Park

I am still working on posting some pictures from when I went to Romania in the summer, but here are some photos from a walk in Kolb Park that George and I took to take pictures of birds. Turns out there were no birds :(

Friendfest 2009

Back in September we had the second annual Friendfest. Unfortunately George and I did not camp since we were sick. We did make it out for the Saturday and I would like to brag that this year we more then doubled the turnout. We hope that next year we will have the same success and see some new faces as well.

Ryan posted some pictures on his blog so I feel inclined to post a couple as well. I didn't take many photos since we were socializing a lot and huddling in blankets since it was cold at night.

Some flowers I saw when George and I went for a walk. I think they are called Aster.

Chickens on the way to work

I don't get to see chickens on the way to work at home, but there was a chicken coop on the walk to work here in Romania. I thought they were cute.

Kolb Park

I was inspired to go to Kolb Park for a walk on the weekend.  There were two sources of inspiration.  The first was this blog that I have been following of two photographers at the Record who are doing a picture a day on the Grand River.  The second was Bigma; my new lens given to me by my wonderful husband for my birthday.

25 cents a ride

I biked to work today.  All of the bad news in the economy motivated me to roughly calculate how much money I save in gas.  Turns out it is about 25 cents a ride.* 

*this was based on gas being around 80 cents a litre

Those cat gone days of winter

Those cat gone days of winter calls for finding comfortable places to sleep and to scowl when someone disturbs you.  Here are good examples:

Leave me alone unless you want to rub my belly.

Your computer work is interrupting my nap.

One more photo and I will leave a present where you won't like it.

You took the cushions off the chair and now you can't have them back.

Don't disturb me in my sun beam.

Eat, Sleep, Test

Someone put it on a T-Shirt and give it to me for my birthday. (Richard would like one as well so please do a bulk order.)

From Monday to today that is what I feel like I have done here in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately this post would probably go against my Non Disclosure Agreement if I discussed in depth the testing I was doing and it would be really boring if I talked about sleeping. I also do not have pictures of either of these activities. So I guess this leaves food.

I have visited some nice restaurants here. Each night we have a different theme. We have had Tex-Mex at Chuy's, Chinese at the Imperial, Italian at the Olive Garden, Barbecue at Rudys, Japanese at Benihana and American at this pizza place down the street. The last one was a bit of a stretch, but I wanted something quick.

Three of the themes are worth more detailed explinations.

Chuy's - it is a chain, but the food was great. The waiter was awesome and we ate outside on the patio in short sleeves. This warm weather was short lived and the rest of the trip has been near freezing.




Rudy's - You buy meat by the pound. You pick what you want and they put it in a tray. Then you pick some sides. We got Baby Back ribs, brisket, potatoes, creamed corn, beans and coleslaw. Then they give you giant pieces of wax paper to use as plates. There is a giant BBQ sauce dispenser and some other free sides such as pickles. Then you find a spot at a picnic table and eat. Not vegetarian friendly, but I would go back. I kept thinking to myself, Joy would love this place.


Benihana - it is also a chain but my mom said she had not been to one since she was in Florida with my dad over 20 years ago. You sit around a grill and you food is cooked in front of you. It was worth the show. We had calamari, shrimp, scallops and steak. I think some fried rice and veggies were present as well.

Now the only question is: Where do we eat tomorrow? (Theme suggestions are welcome)
